Smash The State Report: Dec. 28, 2012 - More IdleNoMore + More!

Smash The State Report: Dec. 28, 2012 - More IdleNoMore + More!

From the December 14th 2012 edition of AW@L Radio - Pussy Riot Kicks off the show but we then jump right into more #IdleNoMore with a read of The natives are restless. Wondering why? from the awesome website - âpihtawikosisân then a we go into reading from the Chiefs of Ontario open letter to the Queen regarding Chief Theresa Spence

#IdleNoMore updates continue with reports from Sault Ste Marie on the one day solidarity blockade of the transcanada highway and rail line by Indigenous people and their allies, we then play an interview with anti-colonial activist Harsha Walia on Immigrants Supporting Idle No More and close it off with a new track by A Tribe Called Red with a song created for Chief Spence - The Road.

We close off the Idle No More update with a reading of  Settler Responsibility for Relationship from decolonization.wordpress.com then get into an update with the folks up at the Oshkimaadziig unity camp, who have not been idle at all, recently released their Declaration of Anishinabek Nationhood and have been busy garnering support.

We then go into a song by Kinnie Starr and Tagaq from the Aboriginal People Choice Awards in 2010 and switch gears to look at the growing movement fighting nuclear power and associated operations (mining, transport, disposal) with the #OccupyNuclear webpage - including news that Quebec'S Gentilly 2 reactor is shutting down today!

Next up is the Harper governments mulling of a chinese proposal to destroy huge chunks of the NWT for mining, then we talk about the new zine from the Zine library on the toronto G20 conspiracy charges, infiltration and targetting, and court case, then  News from the Animal Liberation Front as the toronto cells have been active targetting profiteers of animal mistreatment.

We Close the show by highlighting two new media projects.  One, the S.H.A.M.E. project in the US goes after media hacks who pander for money, and the other Prism-Magazine is the work of human rights and anti-torture activist Mahar Arar and looks at the goings on around those topics from around the world.
