Toronto News, →Federal Government Incompetence

From a Government of Canada Press Release:

"Prime Minister Stephen Harper spoke by phone this afternoon with philanthropist Bill Gates.

"Prime Minister Harper and Mr. Gates spoke about the Canadian government's flagship maternal, newborn and child health initiative.

Prime Minister Harper thanked Mr. Gates for his foundation's pledge of $1.5 billion toward improving the health of mothers and children, and thanked the Gates Foundation for its support of Canada's G-8 initiative."

Details of what Canada's Health Initiative will acually contain have not been released though the Conservative government has ruled out abortion.  Foreign Affaris Minister Lawrence Cannon has said family planning (contraception) will not be included while Bev Oda, the Minister for International Cooperation, has stated the opposite.
