Quebec City

G20 - Quebec City protest in solidarity with those arrested and accused

Manif. à Québec en solidarité avec les personnes arrêtées et accusées lors du G20 à Toronto

1:30pm
Saturday July 17 2010

Protest in Quebec City, Montreal and in many Canadian cities
Saturday the 17th of July 2010

Considering the gravity of the crimes and lies committed by the police during the G8-G20, where 1105 protesters were arrested without a sensical reason;

considering that 16 protesters are still incarcerated (as of July 6) and 263 people, after spending 9 to 10 days in detention, have received surrealistic charges such as that of conspiracy;

considering the abusive, massive and arbitrary searches, detentions and arrests;

considering that we still have the right to protest in Canada and that this right is threatened by these repressive strategies ;

We demand :

  • the immediate liberation of all the people arrested during the G8/G20 protests and the lifting of all charges without any exceptions;
  • the destruction of all the identification files and information gathered against thousands of protesters;
  • an independent enquiry to shed light on the police actions and the conditions in the detention centre.

We shall also recall the reasons why we protested on the occasions of the G8/G20 summits.
