SUPREME COURT DECISION--Compensation for breach of charter rights!

DISTRIBUTE WIDELY!!

The Supreme Court of Canada just set a new and outstanding precedent by a 9-0 decision awarding damages to an individual whose charter rights were breached when he was wrongfully detained and jailed.

Here is a link to the story as published in the GLOBE AND MAIL:
http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/british-columbia/supreme-court-upholds-compensation-for-breach-of-charter-rights/article1649475/

In this case, Cameron Ward (a lawyer) was arrested and taken to jail where he was strip searched and subsequently released after 41/2 hours in custody.

Almost all of the 1000+ detainees from the G20 were subjected to AT LEAST an equivalent summary of violations! This means, ipso de facto, that G20 detainees are now eligible to make claims according to this new precedent!

The timing for this decision could not be more fortuitous!!
