G20 Protests hit Toronto Streets

On Saturday the streets of Toronto were in lockdown as thousands of Police and Riot Squads locked down parts of the city to control a city wide violent rampage .The Police had order shut down all metro operating south of Bloor  St and St Goerge as well as controlling citizens from walking through certain streets away from the restricted zone.

 

Business such as the Starbucks on Queen west and Second Cup on College and Yonge  were the targets of smashed windows . As well as banks in the business district such as the CIBC on Bay St and the Scotia Bank on Queen were some of the causualties of the violence as windows were smashed with sledgehammers and spray painted “ CAPITAL KILLS”.

While Police cars were set on fire on Bay and Quuen Street Riot Police began to shutdown parts of the city in order to control the the large crowds that continued  throughtout the night.Hundreds were arrested after a peaceful sit in at the Novatel Hotel including Mohawk activist Ben Powless  on Saturday night.
