Smitherman does not let public see his backers before voting day

Donations to Ford and Pantalone explored

In the last week of Toronto's Municipal Elections two of the top three candidates for office released their donations lists. A third candidate, George Smitherman, has not released his list. None of the candidates are required to release the names of his campaign contributors until five months after election day.

Here is the Toronto Media Co-op's initial breakdown of the data:

Ford Total Donations= $687,461.27

Ford donations over $100 = $655,969.72
 
Breakdown of Ford donors
$ Under $100 =779
$100 donors = 654
$101-$500 = 1110
$501 to $1000 =  103
$1001 to 1500 =  12
$1501 to $2000 = 4
$2001 to 2499 = 2
$2500 =  56
 
Note: The National Post published a story exploring how donations to Ford surged when ever he was under attack or in controversy.
 
 
PANTALONE
 
Total disclosed donors to Pantalone = 1981
Pantalone total donations = UNKNOWN
Pantalone donations over $100 = $839,274.95
 
Breakdown of Pantalone donors

$100 donors = 550
$101-$500 = 1098
$501 to $1000 = 202 
$1001 to 1500 = 44
$1501 to $2000 = 11
$2001 to 2499 = 5
$2500 =  71
