From the December 14th 2012 edition of AW@L Radio - The show starts with a spoken word performance from Victoria Ransom, a student in Fine arts at U of O called - Where is the Solidarity, which has her ripping up the Indian Act as she describes the impacts of the racist legislation imposed by a colonial government.
We then move to news from the BDS campaign against the illegal Israeli occupation of Palestine, with news of the new zeland national pension fund dumping shares in israeli corporations who are working on the apartheid wall, and those profiting from or operating in the illegally established settlements.
We then jump to ontario where OCAP, Poverty Makes us Sick and other organisations have been fighting the Austerity measures of the mcgunity government and we update on the week of action to save the Community Start-up. Staying with awesome work from grassroots groups - No One Is Illegal Toronto has released a new video on immigration detention in Canada. We play the audio of the clip then jump into the F-35 fighter jet scandal with word that costs have risen to 40 000 000 000$ and harper is sitting on the report from the kpmg which would reveal all the details.
Dan then reads from a report published by Dana Gabriel from his blog Be Your Own Leader which loots at international trade agreements, border security, and sovereignty issues. Then a report from Aaron Lakoff on the demand for minister Rona Ambrose to resign from her post as minister for Women's issues after she voted on a motion to re-open the debate on abortion rights.
In feb 2013, the annual CKUT homelessness marathon will go down - listen into the PSA then listen to Geoff Berner with a song from Victory Party - Mayn Rue Platz.
We finish the show with a video I found on submedia.tv and libcom.org that was posted on vimeo.com by globaluprisings.org - and it is awesome! its a piece on the November 14th 2012 general strike in europe with a particular focus on Lisbon and Portugal.
