The federal and provincial governments continue to cut social and environmental programs under a general label of austerity. Quebecers have led the way in fighting back against austerity with large protests across the province. However, in the rest of the country, communities have been slow to mobilize against ongoing austerity measures.
Doug interviews Dru Oja Jay, a board member from Smart Change, one of the groups involved in helping communities across Canada organize against austerity. Dru describes how austerity affects workers, environmental protection, indigenous peoples, migrant workers and other vulnerable sectors and some of the actions taking place in Ontario.
