Canadian Boat to Gaza Passengers Take Off Part 1

Interviews with passengers and supporters

by Carmelle Wolfson

Human rights activists sailing on the Canadian boat to Gaza left Toronto's Pearson International airport on Sunday June 19. On board the Canadian boat, named Tahrir or liberty in Arabic, will be 32 Canadian activists, 10 delegates from Denmark, Belgium and Australia and a handful of journalists. The boat will sail the Mediterranean with nine other ships from the United States and Europe as part of the Freedom Flotilla II. The aim of the flotilla is to break Israel's siege on the Gaza Strip and to deliver humanitarian aid to Palestinians in Gaza. Arriving at the airport on Sunday, police were stationed by the check-in after over a dozen members of the extremist Jewish Defense League showed up with signs to protest the Freedom Flotilla. The JDL said the flotilla is aiding terrorist Hamas holes. At the airport Carmelle Wolfson spoke with John Greyson, a Canadian filmmaker and member of Queers Against Israeli Apartheid who will be sailing on Tahrir to Gaza.
