On Wednesday October 7th, dump trucks again began moving into the Edwards Site in Cayuga to begin prepping the site for dumping.
The day before, the Media Coop first reported on the years long battle over the Edwards Site in Cayuga. On Oct. 2nd, preliminary hearings were held in court regarding an attempt by Haldimand Against Landfill Transfer (HALT) to declare the site illegal after bloackades against the site in 2007 and 2008.
According to members of the First Nations Solidarity Working Group of CUPE 3903, a Toronto group, 4 OPP cars were at the site threatening to arrest anyone attempting to blockade the site a third time.
A blockade was avoided when members of 6-Nations agreed to let trucks through on the condition that they be able to meet with receiver Brahm Rosen of SF Partnership Chartered Accountants in Toronto, the company currently operating and trying to sell the dumpsite.
