Particularly since the 2007/2008 financial crisis, disability-related funding and support programs have been drastically restructured, dwindled, and/or disappeared, making it increasingly difficult for disabled people, both on and off campus, to access the supports they need. Disability activists discuss these changes, the impacts these changes have on disabled people, and how communities are fighting back. Panelists will discuss austerity measures and program restructuring in the areas of mental health, learning disabilities, and programs such as the Bursary for Students with Disabilities and the Ontario Disability Support Program which have had violent impacts on many disabled students.
Note: This event will have ASL and live captioning.
