Canada was the first country to unquestionably support Israel when they began Operation Protective Edge in July 2014. In 2012, Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird stated “There is no better friend to Israel than Canada.”
What is the basis for this unwavering support? In the face of global condemnation of the occupation and an international movement of boycott, divestment and sanctions against Israel, how do we turn the tide on Canadian complicity with Israeli war crimes? Join us to discuss the historical similarities between Israel and the Canadian state, the political and economic ties they’ve built internally and abroad, and what strategies we can engage in to highlight Canadian support for Israeli Apartheid.

Brad Evoy is a graduate student at the University of Toronto, blogger, writer, commentator, and sometimes firebrand. He has served as one of the Summer Membership and Admin. Coordinators for the Toronto Media Co-op and in the past has written for various other publications. Meanwhile, as an organizer, he's associated with the Ontario Public Interest Research Group (OPIRG-Toronto) and Scientists for the Right to Know, along with past associations with various student organizations in two provinces.
