Letter Writing: Exploring Creative Tools for Prison Abolition

In this workshop participants will have the opportunity to explore and discuss ideas around prison abolition, the prison system in Canada and letter writing as a specific tool to support people on the inside. Participants are also invited to engage in some art-making, and to share their thoughts and experiences with people on the inside. People who are already involved in the project (as pen pals or otherwise) are also very welcome to come share their own experiences of involvement! The workshop will be informal and conversational, and as such space is limited to 25 people. Please register in advance by emailing priscopro.toronto@gmail.com.

Held at the Centre for Women and Trans People which is a barrier free space. Gender neutral, accessible, single stall washrooms. Please refrain from wearing scented products or clothes washed with fragrances soap/softener so that those with chemical injury or sensitivity can participate comfortably. This workshop will be held in English, ASL interpretation unavailable at this time. The Prisoner Correspondence Project coordinates a penpal program and resource library for LGBTIQQ2S prisoners, linking these people with LGBTIQQ2S people on the outside
