An emergency vigil and march to end police violence and demand justice for Sammy Yatim has been planned for Monday night.
The vigil will begin at 5pm at Yonge-Dundas Square and travel to the scene of the shooting at Dundas Street West and Bellwoods Avenue for 6:30pm. It is expected to then march to Toronto Police’s 14 Division at College Street and Dovercourt Road.
Since the Friday night shooting by police, a memorial has been created at the corner of Dundas/Bellwoods, complete with flowers, messages and constantly burning candles. An facebook memorial page entitled “Sammy’s Fight Back for Justice” was also created Sunday, attracting over 4500 “Likes” in under 24 hours.
