Get the Skinny on Toronto City Council Before Polls Close

TMC Election Coverage!

Election fever is upon us!

But don't worry, the Toronto Media Co-op has been cranking out the reporting on Toronto City Council.

Interested about individual candidates?

Bebe Rae Gunn has you covered.  She has spent the last several months doing video interviews with dozens of incumbent councillors to try to focus on the in-depth issues in their platforms.

You can check out the following councillors here: Pam McConnell, John Parker, Joe Mihevc, Sarah Doucette, Anthony Peruzza, Mary Margaret McMahon, Mary Fradgedakis, Ana Bailao,  Gord Perks and James Pasternak.

Tim Groves, working for everycandidate.org, has a compilation of where candidates live in relation to their ward and, most importantly, where their money comes from.

Meanwhile, the Toronto Media Co-op has also revealed allegations about Giorgio Mammoliti’s financial situation in relation to several financial scandals throughout the council term.

Interested in council decisions?

The TMC sent our army of great reporters to cover the in’s and out’s of council meetings at various points.  Brad Evoy and J Den reported on the plethora of decisions made at council meetings while Geordie Dent covered the politics behind the budgeting process at council.

Besides general meetings, council was pressured to take positions on a number of major issues this year including transport of toxic oil products by rail, missing and murdered indigenous women, the City's Sanctuary City policy around undocumented migrant workers, a wave of opposition to anti-tax policies and cuts to the City budget.

Also, we covered a lot of stuff that happened with Mayor Rob Ford – here, here, here and here.

Election polls close in Toronto at 8pm.
