TORONTO--Thousands of people took to the streets on July 29th to express their outrage against the murder of Sammy Yatim, an 18 year old Syrian teenager, demanding Justice for Sammy and all victims of police violence. The family and friends of Sammy Yatim organized the rally along with other Toronto community activists. The crowd began their march from Dundas Square in the heart of downtown Toronto, taking up all four lanes of the street and worked their way west to the site of the shooting at Dundas St W and Bellwoods Ave.

The cop who shot Sammy to death is Constable James Forcillo, who is currently on paid leave. The province's SIU (Special Investigation Unit) is currently probing the shooting, but they have yet to release a report.

Organizers are staging a protest outside of the Toronto Police Services headquarters at 40 College St (College and Bay) on August 13th. The protest will begin at 1:30pm, coinciding with a meeting held by the TPS Board to discuss the case of Sammy Yatim.
